Installing themes

You can install WordPress themes with using: WordPress theme uploader or FTP.

Method 1: Installing themes with the WordPress uploader

If you’ve purchased our theme on ThemeForest you can follow these steps:

1. Download the final zip file from your downloads page (Do NOT upload the final download folder. Open up the final download folder and find the themename.zip file)
2. Login to wp-admin
3. Go to Appearance > Themes
4. Click on the “Install Themes” tab, then click on the “Upload” link
5. Upload the themename.zip
6. Activate the theme

Method 2: Installing Themes With FTP

To install themes via FTP, you need to have a FTP software. If you don’t have FTP software on your computer, you can download a free FTP software, FileZilla (available in Mac, Linux, and Windows).
Here are the basic steps on uploading themes to your server:

1. Download the final zip file from your downloads page (Do NOT upload the final download folder. Open up the final download folder and find the themename.zip file)
2. Connect to your server via FTP
3. Go to the WordPress root folder on your server, then go to “wp-content > themes” folder
4. Upload the theme folder that you extracted from the zip onto the “themes” folder
5. Then login to WordPress admin, go to Appearance > Themes
6. You should see all the uploaded themes. Click on the “Activate” link to activate the theme

Common issues

WordPress says theme is broken or missing a stylesheet

A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a “Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme. This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly.
If you’ve purchased our theme on ThemeForest you can follow these steps:

1. Download the final zip file from your downloads page
2. Unzip the final zip file; you should now have a final download folder.
3. Do NOT upload the final download folder. Open up the final download folder.
4. Browse the contents and find the actual theme folder. If you look inside the theme folder, you will see a “style.css” file. This is how you know you have found the theme folder.
5. Using an FTP client, upload ONLY the theme folder to your “wp-content/themes” folder.
6. Login to your WordPress admin panel and activate the theme.
